Budget Cuts

The information presented below is an opinion and hopefully informative recap

of what transpired at the Dixon Unified School District (DUSD)

School Board Meetings in the DHS Theater on Feb 5, 2009 and Feb 19, 2009.

What these numbers mean to me...

$ 3 Million

The amount that MUST BE CUT

from the 2009-2010 school budget.

$ 5 Million

PROPOSED CUTS

that the School Board approved.

$ 7 Million

Possible savings

presented by the Superintendent to the School Board.

Timelines forced a required vote, and that is why there is a disparity in numbers.

approved by the School Board

shows that DUSD is willing to make huge sacrifices

in order to not transition to "RECEIVERSHIP"

whereby an outside agency takes over the school budget

and the community no longer has inputs.

2009 Timelines

March	DUSD submits a proposed budget to the county. Notification of possible "pink slips".
April	Financial numbers released by the State which might require a "May Revise" to the State budget.
May	Adjustments to DUSD budget based on State revisions. Delivery of "pink slips" to those affected.
June	Final DUSD budget approved for 2009-2010 school year.

Survey will be used to Prioritize Cuts

This is our opportunity to

Save the Sports programs at DHS and CAJ.

DUSD will be releasing a survey in late February

to reduce the disparity in numbers

and come up with a final budget.

We need the help of all Students, Athletes, Parents, and Fans...
